Traditional treatment regimens for conditions associated with circadian variation, like hypertension and angina, often do not account for normal fluctuations in disease activity. Chronotherapeutic regimens are designed to provide pharmacologic intervention at the most appropriate time points in accordance with circadian rhythms.
Blue Note is on the cutting edge of thinking and technology development for chronotherapeutic approaches to treating cardiovascular disease. For example, BNP 32,762 is specifically designed to provide peak plasma concentrations when effect appears most needed for high blood pressure and angina (e.g., during early-morning hours). Blue Note is also evaluating the use of new combination chronotherapeutic agents that will optimally align peak plasma drug levels with times when blood pressure, heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand are at their highest and/or in transition to peak levels over the full 24-hour period. The objective is to optimize effective 24-hour management to all patients, including those with unusual circadian patterns and those who are resistant to standard treatment and by refining such management, to also affect the related negative potential for target organ damage and cardiovascular disease.
As a Company, Blue Note is committed to leading the way in the future with the development of new chronotherapeutic formulations and combinations with special release mechanisms targeted at inducing optimal treatment effects.
